Dr. Canute Hyandye

Canute Hyandye is a consultant with Engage Consult Co.Ltd. He holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and engineering, also a Master’s of Engineering Degree in Environmental sciences as well as Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences and Management. From 2009 to date, Dr. Canute has been working with the Institute of Rural Development Planning in Dodoma as a Senior Lecturer. He previously worked with University of Dodoma as Assistant Lecturer (2008-2009), Environmental Project Officer at Envirocare (2004-2005), Environmental Science trainee at Water Quality Project at Lake Victoria Environmental Management Project (LVEMP) Water Quality Laboratory in Igogo Mwanza (2003), City Water (2004) Water Quality Laboratory and Waste Water and Municipal Solid Wastes Management unit. As an environmental Scientist and Engineer, Dr Canute has a very long experience of working in the areas of Environmental Management, Water and Sanitation, Environmental Pollution and Control (including solid and liquid wastes management) as well as spatial data analysis. He has strong commands and skills in the applications of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) as the tools of planning and environmental conservation. Dr Canute has been on various engagements and travelled widely for research, training, joint expert meetings and other related purposes in Mozambique, China, Ethiopia, Uganda, Japan and Kenya. Dr. Canute has worked as an expert and provided consultancy services to various local and international organisations namely IFAD, FAO, UNDP/UNEP, Vice Presidents’ Office (VPO), UNICEF, IIED, Ministry of Agriculture, Amref and Geita District Council. He is excellent in speaking, reading and writing English, Swahili and some Chinese. As an academician, he has published research articles in the high profile journals hosted by companies such as Springer, Tailor& Francis and Elsevier. His main research and academic interest is on integrated water resources management, watersheds hydrological modelling and management, environmental pollution and control, cleaner production, water and sanitation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, rural energy sources and utilization, ecological vulnerability assessments, land use changes modelling as well as innovation and entrepreneurship for wealth creation.
